Starting from the idea of ​​improved public transit system in Jakarta which led to the policy priorities of public transport , it is necessary to develop a public transport system that can accommodate users of all groups . Government of Jakarta Macro Transportation Pattern compile ( PTM ) as the general planning of transport system development in Jakarta area defined by Jakarta Governor Decree No. 103 of 2007. Referring to the PTM , for the initial stages of its realization built a network of mass transportation systems who use the bus on a special line ( Bus Rapid Transit / BRT ) . Public Service Board of TransJakarta Busway was originally a non- structural institutions of the Government of Jakarta , namely Management Board ( BP ) TransJakarta Busway , as stipulated in Jakarta Governor Decree No. 110 of 2003 . Accordance with Jakarta Governor Decree No. 48 of 2006, BP . TransJakarta Busway converted into structural organization and became Technical Implementation Unit ( UPT) of the Department of Transportation who have the authority based financial management PPK - BLUD , which has a main activity providing services to the user community busway .

BLU TransJakarta Busway is an institution established by Jakarta Provincial Government to manage the mass transportation service using bus mode . Development of Bus Rapid Transit ( BRT ) is one of the strategies of the Macro Transportation Pattern ( PTM ) to improve services and the provision of transport services that are safe, unified , orderly, smooth , comfortable , economical , efficient , effective , and affordable by the community . BRT is facilitated by lines , buses and specially built infrastructure , electronic ticketing system which is currently operated at 1-3 corridor and hospitality workers is a service provided to the public to be able to use public transport better . Now people have a public transport alternative to easily reach all areas of Jakarta with different services compared with other public transportation . Appeal to the people especially those using private vehicles to use the busway , so it can reduce congestion in the city .

TransJakarta Busway began operation on January 15, 2004 . On his way for 7 years , TransJakarta Busway is already serving 10 corridors with a total length of 123.35 km track which is the longest track in the world in the BRT system , and has been transporting passengers an average of 250,000 people per days . TransJakarta Busway system consists of adequate infrastructure , operating systems and effective control of the bus , a computerized ticketing system , a reliable security systems and trained staff . Starting from the planning , development and management of TransJakarta system provided by local government of Jakarta , while bus operations , ticket operations and other support activities carried out in collaboration with the operator .

TransJakarta busway has 141 eight stops along the corridors with a platform height of 110 centimeters high road surface that is available to the average bus access . Each busway station is equipped with pedestrian access to connect to the pedestrian bridge , which is designed specifically to facilitate the busway service users . Facilities and infrastructure at the existing stop ticketing booth and barrier doors as an entrance and an exit for service users . In addition to the facilities provided trash, route information and automatic doors to provide comfort and safety while waiting at the bus stop . TransJakarta bus has a door that is higher than the other so that the bus can only be climbed from the busway stop ( also known as shelter) . The door is located in the central part of the right and left . For articulated buses have three pairs of doors are the front , middle , rear right and left .
